Should I remove T470 back battery when in docking station?

2017-09-06, 16:43 PM

Hello.  I am a very happy new T470 owner.  So this bad boy has an internal battery and one in the back.  Should I remove the one in the back when my box is in the docking station (90W Ultra Dock), or is it smart enough not to provide continual charging to the removable battery which would wear it out?

Hi Gisogr,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

It is not really bad to keep your battery plug into your laptop.. When a battery reaches 100% charged, it stops receiving charging power and this will go directly to the power supply system of the laptop.

However the disadvantage in keeping the battery plugged to your laptop is it may suffer from high temp or heat caused by laptop hardware.

of course you can google it and get the tips for maintaining the removable battery.

Hope the above information helps and please let us know how you go about.
