Sierra EM7455 bad signal receive

I have a problem with the Sierra EM7455 Broadband Card (installed from factory on my T570 at November 2017).

 

I can connect to WAN only if the signal is very strong.

 

I had confirmation comparing my smartphone and T570: in the same place and the same time , I can connect to WAN by tethering on smartphone, but it doesn't connect by SIM on Sierra EM7455 on the T570. The SIM Card provider is the same (3).

 

There is a way to set a better signal receive? Or other way to improuve it?

Hi

Hi low signal strength might be caused by several reasons:
1. wwan antenna(s), its wire, connector on the modem are broken
2. wwan antennas wires are connected to the modem incorrectly, i.e.blue and red wires are mixed or even connected to the dedicated GPS port
3. antenna wire isn't connected to the modem port
4. by default, the Windows broadband manager chooses the network type (2g/3g/LTE) by the network signal value, in auto mode. So, there is a chance the modem in the laptop is connected to 2g/3g network, not LTE one
5. too old modem's firmware

You can test the modem to determine, at least, fw, network, setting related reasons:
- open command prompt window (cmd)
- type in and execute the following commands, one by one
netsh mbn sh int
netsh mbn sh cap int=*
netsh mbn sh vis int=*

Do not establish the Internet connection for last command. Wait several minuts for that command. Copy the output, past here, remove Hardware ID value for your privacy.

I would recomment to install the Sierra Wireless Software.

Search for "Skylight" on Google. You cant download it from Sierra Wireless without an (free) Account there.

I try to  install the new driver for Sierra EM7455. It seems OK, but when I reboot the 570 a window at right low corner appears and says "configuring broadband card". When finish the driver come back to the precedent version.

 

I installed Skylight Sierra Wireless Software, but I didn't found useful settings. If I mistake please, let me know witch are the settings to use.

That are the Important information:
Nome provider : 3 ITA
Segnale : 32%
RSSI / RSCP : 10 (-93 dBm)

 

 

So you are login to the 3 Network with an Signal Strenght of 32%. The "(-93 dBm)" is more an Technical inforation.

You should ask in an Italian LTE Forum if the Signal Streght in your Area is normal.
