Sierra Wireless EM7345 models: G12Z024.05, G12Z024.05 HF or G12Z024.23 HF - differences?

2017-03-28, 18:57 PM

Hi, what are the differences between those models?

Quick google image search reveals at least such versions of EM7345:

  • G12Z024.05,
  • G12Z024.05 HF
  • G12Z024.23 HF

Which is compatible with ThinkPad T450s?

Main question is what are the differences?

EDIT: the G12Z024.23 HF has indeed different part number: 04X6092 - is it for newer ThinkPads? Of course the main question still stands.

The difference is modem hardware revision.
FRU 04X6092 is an approved card for:
ThinkPad 10 (MT 20E3, 20E4)
ThinkPad HELIX (20CG, 20CH)
ThinkPad YOGA 15

If this card has another USB IDs than the card 04X6014, T450s will not work with it because of approved cards white list. I don't know exactly this card IDs, sorry.

New generation of Lenovo ThinkPads (x60 and x70) supports another wan modem - Sierra em7455.

Thanks for the reply, glad to know more about this stuff. That does not cover main question fully though. What is the difference between the G12Z024.05 and G12Z024.05 HF which both have the same part number.  What does HF stands for? Do both models support GNSSs?

As I said above - the differenc is a modem hardware revision. Some additional symbols on the label denote that fact. Isn't it enough? If no, I haven't more detailed information as it dodn't matter for anyone else.

Devices listed above with modem 04X6092 as well any ThinkPad laptop with 04X6014 installed support Standalone GPS, A-GPS, Glonass capabilities.
