T400: Lock Workstation, Can't Get Back In

2011-04-29, 17:57 PM

I recently updated all the Lenovo utilities on my T400, and I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise.

When I go to lunch, I do a Win+L to lock my workstation.  When I get back from lunch, I can't log back in.  I just get the Windows background screen.  The mouse moves fine, but there is nothing to click on.  I can do a Ctl-Alt-Del all day and nothing happens.  Even if I pop the T400 out of the docking station and open the lid, its the same thing.  Its completely locked up except for mouse movement.  I have to remove the battery, wait a few seconds, then put it back in and do a cold boot.

The only thing that has changed is the update of all the Lenovo utilities which I did earlier this week.  I've been through all the power setttings, and can not find anything that might cause this.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

Are you using fingerprint software?  If so, can you try uninstalling it to see if that makes the problem go away?  I'm not suggesting that's a proper solution, I'm just trying to understand what the problem could be.
