T400 - Loose Palmrest

I have recently bought a T400. However, I have just noticed that the palmrest region on the right (the region next to the fingerprint reader and the latch catch, where the ThinkPad logo is pasted) is pretty loose and not firmly attached to the chasis. It even squeaks beneath my palm weight. It seems that there is some gap between the chasis and the cover.  Is that a normal design error or a manufacturing defect? Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: T400 - Loose Palmrest

I would suggest to reseat the palm rest.

Here are some videos, see button: FRU removals, it´s for SL but T is very similar.

If you´ll notice some latches are broken, please contact support, but may be it must just be reseated.

Re: T400 - Loose Palmrest

actually i have the same problem, i got my laptop back after a LCD replacement and now even the slightest pressure to the right palmrest makes it squeak like a pig Smiley Happy

i already tried getting the palmrest to fit properly but it doesnt to that.

i can pull apart the hdd bay cover and the bottom right corner of the chassis and have a rather alarming gap,

and there's no resistance to that.

shouldn't there be a sort of hinge that prevents it from doing that?
