I have over 100 T400 in my organization but i have also had such an issue. Thank Goodness for warranty because everytime i get such an issue, i take the affected machine back to my supplier and he gets it fixed under warranty. He replaces the system planner. This is a Lenovo issue. I hope the same is not being carried forward to the T410 and T420 family.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately my computer is out of warranty, so I am stuck with the one I have. But I will stop banging my head against the wall trying to fix it.

No, I've pretty much given up and just leave my computer on all the time. It is over the warranty period or I would probably send it in for a new motherboard. If anyone has new ideas I'm always open to them!

I forgot to give an update on this issue: I had an unrelated black screen issue that was keeping me from using Windows, so I took my computer in to a repair shop. They fixed my Windows issue, and I also asked them to look at my power issue. It sounds like the guy just took the computer completely apart and then put it back together and now it works fine. So to anyone with a similar issue I recommend this solution. Wish I'd tried it months earlier!

I've had the same problem with my T520. It restarts 2 seconds after the laptop goes to a complete shutdown.
I've gone through at least 4 BIOS Updates, nothing helped, I even have the fingerprint scanner configs ALL OFF and DISABLED.
I haven't found a clear reason or solution for this problem around.
