This morning I installed new Hard Disk (WD Black2 Dual Drive) on my notebook Lenovo T410, then installed Win 8.1 on it too, It worked  for about 4 hours and my notebook stopped working. I tried to restart the system, but appeared the error: "ERROR 2100: HDD0 (HARD DISK DRIVE) INITIALIZATION ERROR (1). How can I fix it?

Hi Wjroque,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issues after up-grading the WD Black2 Dual Drive on your ThinkPad T410.

  1. Have you checked with updating the WD Black2 Dual Drive firmware for your system?
  2. Please click here to visit the link to download the firmware for that and follow the WD Black2 Firmware Update Instructions.pdf located in the downloaded zip file.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Yes, I did a clean installation. Installed Win 8.1 and I followed all WD instruction.
Firmware was updated.
Now I can´t turn on my notebook, not initialize anymore. I need run some boot in order to start the system.

Did you install Lenovo PC Doctor?

I read on a Crucial forum once that the Lenovo utility caused that error because it interferred with SMART.

If you installed that after your Windows reinstall, consider ditching it.

Re: T410 - ERROR 2100: HDD0 (HARD DISK DRIVE) INITIALIZATION ERROR (1)

Hi Wjroque,

Is the system is not boot to Windows or not powering ON?

Another thing would check and make sure that your BIOS is set to AHCI and not RAID mode if you can adjust it. This could prevent any problems you may encounter while installing the Black2 software later.

If it is not booting then please perform the Windows 8.1 clean installation once again and check it.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
