T410 Smart Card problem

received my T410 last week, played around, but noticed that the smart card reader is not working correctly.

In Device Manager, the driver is installed correctly as integrated smart card reader.

But when I insert a smart card, it asked to install driver and failed.

any advise?

Thanks.

Victor

Re: T410 Smart Card problem

Thanks for the reply.

But windows is not taking the driver, and smart card still remains uninstall.

Any other possibilities?

Re: T410 Smart Card problem

I have the same problem with a T410i. I opened a complaint and it has been open for a while. Every other vendor supplies software with their finger print and smart card readers.

Re: T410 Smart Card problem

I'm having the same problem.  T410 Running Windows 7 x64.  The Smart Card Reader driver installed successfully but then I pop in my Smart Card and now the card needs a driver?  Weird, but when I go through Citrix to authenticate using my SC, it actually works.  But the driver popping up and failing each time I insert the SC is so annoying.

Lenovo???  Help?  Or do I have find the actually manufacturer of the Smart Card???

Thanks,

Chris

Re: T410 Smart Card problem

This is a known problem and i have seen the same thing using Omnikey PCMCIA and USB smartcard readers. I would rather blame the provider of the smartcard and not Lenovo or the manufacturer of the smartcard reader.

You can read more about the smartcard minidrivers here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976832

There are also some workarounds to be found in that article. Take a look at the part that describe how to disable smartcard plug and play using group policy and the part that describe how to disable smartcard plug and play for a specific smartcard.
