Re: Touchpad freezes on new T410

Hi bodsham,

I've just moved the comment from amitoza88 as he is using a T410 and not an EDGE.

The Trackpad issue for the EDGE is still currently ongoing and the thread is still active as well. The placeholder I've placed on the thread is for amitoza88 FYI if he find his comment missing.

The TrackPad for T410 and the EDGE uses different version of Synaptics drivers. Also the hanging of the Synaptics driver is obvious when doing a zoom in and zoom out on the T410 / T510 / X201 / T400

Ultranav stops working on my 410

  1. Machine Brand  T410
  2. Machine Type Model: 2516CTO
  3. Operating System Win 7 Pro 64bit
  4. Bios version: latest via update S/W.
  5. How long has the machine been turned on before the issue started to happen? There is no pattern that I can see.
  6. What were you doing or what programs were running before the issue happened? Using firefox primarily
  7. How you temporarily fix it? By system reboot? Or turn system to sleep and wake up later? Log out.

Hi All,

Kindly try to do a "Roll-Back" for the driver as a temporary workaround till engineering has provided an updated version of the driver in order to fix this issue.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type devmgmt.msc
  4. Select "Mice and other Pointing Device"
  5. Double click on "ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device"
  6. Select Driver tab
  7. Click "Roll Back Driver"
  8. Once the "Roll back" has been completed, reboot your machine.

**Please take note that this TouchPad workaround issue only applies to the following ThinkPad machine as they share the same drivers**

For those who can't roll back to the previous version of the driver. Do uninstall the 15.0.24.0 and download the older ones via the following link.

Re: Touchpad freezes on new T410

  • Model: t410s 2901CTO
  • BIOS version: latest
  • OS loaded: Win 7 64bit
  • Lenovo default OS? Win 7 64
  • Issue happen on Battery / AC / Both: haven't tried it on battery
  • Updates from TVSU completed: latest
  • Updates from Windows Updates: latest
  • Power Manager Version: 3.25
  • Power Management Driver: probably latest, i don't see where that is
  • Touchpad version driver installed: 15.0.24.0
  • RAM installed: 2 x 2gb factory
  • Any error notification before issue occured: no
  • 3rd party application installed before issue happen?
  • Any particular application which is running on the time this issue arises: just firefox and chrome
  • Running on battery? AC? Docked on station? AC no battery
  • Additional comments which you think might help:  Downgrading to 15.0.18.0 seems to have "fixed it." Also, should I copy my posts from the other thread to this one?
  • Are you able to recreate the issue on demand? Aside from what I mentioned in the other thread, no.
How do I deal with it when it fails? ending the unresponsive task (C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe which takes one cpu [25% of my i5] during this unresponsive state ) ] in task manager lets me move the mouse again, but i no longer get multitouch, and I just need to start that program again to regain that functionality (and get the ultranav icon back).

Re: T410 / T400s : Touchpad hangs quite often (SynTPEnh.exe hangs at 50% CPU)

Hi guys, Probably it will be helpful. I noticed that the issue happens during two-finger scrolling in firefox. So obviously it's related to multitouch and firefox. I played with different touchpad setting for multitouch gestures and disabling pinch zoom solved the issue.

Re: T410 / T400s : Touchpad hangs quite often (SynTPEnh.exe hangs at 50% CPU)

Hi all,

My thinkpad t410 come with the lastest UltraNav driver therefore I can't rollback the driver. My temporary solution is installing driver from Synaptics. However, my trackpoint can't scroll. OMG. What should I do now? Thank you all!
