What is the name or title of that audio component?
The name of it was just "SAMSUNG" if I remember correctly. I've never looked to see if it's there when I'm not connected. I will try to remember to look for you tonight.

well I hate to think this...but it might be true....that my cable is the problem. I wish I had a working T410 or T510 to test my cable with. Doesnt sound like there is a whole lot of preconfiguration necessary. Either it works or it doesnt. I have nothing new show up in my audio options when I have my laptop connected.

Yeah just checked and the only thing showing in my sound control panel is the Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD speakers when disconnected from the TV.

Okay, well, I bought the same type cable from Staples today and it actually allowed audio to one of my TVs and a new audio device appeared in my sound manager. Guess that confirms the eBay purchased cable is the problem. Nice to see it actually working.
thanks for the feedback

OK, so now how do I connect my t410 with integrated graphic to LCD HD TV. through display port or via HDMI to HDMI cable. Now it's getting confusing for me. I have not tried any of these so far. What could be the perfect link. Suggestions for any particular cable you know. Many thanks.

Your T410 doesn't have an HDMI output, so you have to use display port. You can either a DisplayPort -to-HDMI cable (with a DisplayPort connector at one and for your laptop and an HDMI connector at the other for your TV), OR, get a regular HDMI-to-HDMI cable and a DIsplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to plug into your laptop.

I have a T410 with the integrated graphics. I bought 2 Displayport to HDMI cables (including the one from monoprice) and no sound. After my third attempt to buy a Display port to HDMI cable from ebay (One which said it supported audio), success. So audio over display port to HDMI works for me on my T410 with integrated graphics with Windows 7 64bit.
All you have to do is select your default Playback device once you have the right cable. (It will not show if your cable is does not support audio)
I just just want to share this with everyone who bought a T410 and is regretting it.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
I'm not really sure if the problem is only the "right" adapter. An other person wrote it and I can see the same strange thing: My adapter don't bring any sound on the TV or show any additional audio device under win7, but the same adapter work perfect with audio when I boot a Ubuntu Linux form a USB Stick!?
Have somebody an idea about this?
