T410 fan error + keyboard malfunctions

Ok so I have a 2011 Lenovo thinkpad T410 and a lot of times on boot it throws fan error so i simply press esc to by pass. Works fine except for fan doesnt run fast enough or not even at all, so it hits 180 degrees. Now a week after starting to get fan error the keyboard is acting all funny like only 1 arrow keys work left right and up don't work nor does caps lock, w, s, x, Ctrl, windows, alt. im starting to feel dejavu from 3 years ago on an HP nw8240 the fan stopped working then a few keys and completely died afterwards. At first it seemed as if it was fan failure and now with the keyboard it seems more serious like the motherboard is going bad. What do you guys think bad mobo or coincidence why both went bad

Re: T410 fan error + keyboard malfunctions

Hello,

It really sounds like you fried your system due to not paying heed to the Fan error message. They do pop up for a very good reason and should never be ignored.

It's very hard to say if your machine can be fixed without swapping the motherboard, but regarding the keyboard, I suspect that the controller on the MB is now starting to fail, but your keyboard could be fine. The parts needed to repair it are readily available on the internet, but it will cost you a bit if your motherboard / fan / keyboard all need replacing.

Cheers.
