I updated the new BIOS for T410, then I found SLIC missing, and now Windows 7 can't be activated.
Please don't update the new BIOS: Version 1.12-1.04 http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...IGR-74268#m
PS: How to resolve the problem now ?

Huiker,
Thanks for sharing this - we will look into the latest BIOS.
In the meantime, could you explain a bit more...?
Was your system preloaded with Windows 7 from the factory, (I would imagine so) or was it an upgrade from Vista?
When did you purchase your system? You are saying that Windows 7 was already installed and activated, and when you applied the new BIOS that your system is now asking for Windows 7 activation?
I just want to be sure I understand. Thanks for the links...

I purchased T410 on February, bios version is 1.09-1.04
The system is not preloaded with Windows 7 from the factory, I reinstalled a clean Windows 7 downloaded from MSDN,and activated it. I do not like the preloaded system with some sofware I need'nt, such as Norton Antivirus.
After I applied the new BIOS , the system is now asking for Windows 7 activation.

Huiker,
We will look into this, but it may take several days to check this out...
Also, if the system did not have a factory Win 7 preload, then it should not have had the SLIC 2.1 in BIOS as I understand it. It should only have that if the COA on the bottom was for Windows 7.
There are some systems that have the XP downgrade option that can ship with a Win 7 COA, XP preinstalled, the SLIC 2.1 BIOS and a Win 7 recovery disk so that users can install Win 7.
In your case, if your COA doesn't say Win 7, then I think not having SLIC 2.1 in BIOS is correct. To install a Win 7 upgrade, you would need the product key from that Win 7 license. Did you get a COA and key with your copy of Win 7? The Win 7 upgrades we provided through the Win 7 program came with their own COA & activation key.
The thing we should check into, is whether a new BIOS could remove the SLIC 2.1 bytes on valid systems that had a Win 7 COA from the factory - that would be an issue.

I'm sure that the system do have a factory Win 7 preload.
Just because I don't like the factory Win 7 preload, I reinstalled MSDN Win7, and everything is ok for more than 2 weeks.
I checked the SLIC with SLIC Toolkit, I'm sure SLIC 2.1 is exist. After applied new BIOS, the SLIC is missing !
Now at least 3 users do have the same issue, maybe it is a serious bug.

I had the very same problem, T510 with Windows 7 preinstalled. Windows 7 OEM-key on the button of the laptop. Before i installed a fresh windows 7, there was a slic entry in the bios. I extracted the Productkey and the License file. Then i installed the new windows 7 from MSDN. First all was Ok. But after i updated with Lenovo Tools, I presume the bios update kills the SLIC-entry,. and Windows 7 had to be activated..
Lenovo support could'nt help.
With Windows Telephone activation. I finally got a valid Windows...But the SLIC-Entry is lost.

Out of curiosity, what is SLIC, and where does one see it in the BIOS screens? I've been in there a few times poking around on my T510 and have never noticed any references to SLIC.
