T410s - How loose is your screen ?

Had T410s a little while now, bit concerned at how loose the screen is moving forward and back, the hinges are solidly in place - which I'd hope considering its brand new.

Was just wondering if anyone else shares the same very easy to move screen, in contrast the screen on my X301 is a lot stiffer to move backwards and forwards.

mine's pretty stiff.  It's better that way since I have touchscreen and I wouldnt want it moving back with slight touch.

Can you take a movie of this behaviour?

Re: T410s - How loose is your screen ?

I will take the video when I am infront of the unit.

Im guessing if the hinges are solidly in place then its actually inside the hinges so its a manufacturing defect of the hinges, it stays in place, but if I move it anything more than gently like if I drop it gently onto my lap the screen will go back a few cm on the hinges.

Is this normal for the T410/s ?

Not really, that sounds like the hinge is slightly loose, you should call warranty department and request the hinge to be fixed.

nope, i haven't seen people reporting loose T410s as of yet. This sort of play does occur in thinkpads and usually occurs within 1 year, i had a problem with this on T60, T61, R61 pretty much few weeks to few months after purchase, but they were all fixed under warranty.

Just tell the service support that the hinge has a bit of 'play', they should understand what you are talking about.

There we go ...

As you can see a little judder onto soft backing will make the screen just drop backwards . . . quite annoying Smiley Sad
