T420: Bluetooth is not working when pressing Fn+F5

Question

We have purchased two units of ThinkPad T420 (4236-CJ4). The bluetooth is not working. I have tried different drivers but same issue. It just did nothing when I press Fn+F5.

What can I do to get this functioning?

Answer

  • Press Fn + F5 to enable Bluetooth. If there is no response please install the Hotkey Features Integration found in Lenovo support site-->  http://support.lenovo.com
  • Once it is installed ensure the WLAN master switch is on
  • Restart the system
  • Press  Fn + F5 to enable wifi  & Bluetooth

You should be able to use Bluetooth now.

Make sure the bluetooth module is not disabled in the BIOS, under Security/I-O Port Access

I use T420s 4174-FM9

Suddenly none of the Fn buttons are working (like enable Bluetooth). I have reinstalled the Hotkey Drivers and checked the BIOS setting ref above.

Any clue how to check further?
