T420 - Wrong Ram?

I am guessing one of these chips is not compatible with my T420.  I have them both installed and 6GB are recognized no matter which bay they are installed in.   So I assume 2GB on the board, and one of these is good (which?).  So assuming I will have one of the slots available, how large a chip can I get and what spec am I looking for?  (sorry I thought I knew this stuff, but apparently not)

Re: T420 - Wrong Ram?

There is no RAM "on-board", so one of the DIMMs is bad or is a 2GB DIMM, regardless of what the label says.  Try them one at a time in the slot under the keyboard.

Samsung RAM is 4GB  and the G.Skill RAM is one module of a 2x2GB Dual Channel Kit.

The G.Skill label shows the model number of the Kit not of the individual module.
