T420 firewire connection

I am trying to connect a T420 4180-F64 to a video camera that has a 4 pin firewire.  I'm not sure if I can, doesn't seem to be any kind of IEEE connection on this particular model.  Is there a way to connect?

Thanks..................Doug

Re: T420 firewire connection

welcome to the community.

type your machine type/model into the "quick path" box here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/default.page

you'll see:

i5-2540M(2.6GHz),8GB RAM,500GB 7200rpm HD,14in 1600x900 LCD,NVIDIA N12P-NS1 1GB,CDRW/DVDRW,Intel 802.11agn wireless,WWAN option,Bluetooth,modem,1Gb Ethernet,UltraNav,Secure Chip,Camera,9c Li-Ion,Win7 Pro 64

so no built-in firewire support on your specific machine.

you could get a firewire express card. i don't have any experience with them, so can't offer any suggestion on which is good.

hth.

Re: T420 firewire connection

Because there are several people on my Team who need connectivity I think we're just going to get a new camera rather than buy cards for all machines.

Re: T420 firewire connection

If you only have one camera, then you only need one card -- since it can't be connected to more than one computer at a time. Just keep the card with the camera.

On the other hand, if you are using the lack of FW to justify an upgrade to a better camera to the beancounters, it sounds like a solid plan.
