Got a used t420. I did a full clean install on a samsung evo 750 ssd. Win 7 64 pro. I installed wifi driver from lenovo, then used the lenovo utility to install all other drivers and software. Now my laptop has strange fan behaviour.
It idles at about 3k rpm. Even when cpu temps at 41 degrees.. stranger still, if i suspend and wake the laptop, the fan drops down to off or about 1-2k rpm which is normal.
This must be an issue with a driver or the power management set up. (I had installed pwerr manager 6). I have uninstalled power manager 6 but hasnt solved issue. I could find no config in power manager that resolved it.
I have searched for a known bug like this, without auccess. I also have no recovery media to acquire older drivers than on lenovo site. :+(.
Advice would be great!

Okay, i found that some users with T420s not t420, had an issue similar to mine. Other than third party software, did anyone hear of a resolution? It must be BIOS or driver related. I have bios 1.6. dont what to go above this version incase i need to flash a modified bios in future...
