T420 wakes up automatically from hibernate due to Intel Identity Protection Technology (IPT)

[ Edited ]

Noticed the laptop turned on by itself overnight and was in standby mode in the morning...

Looking at the Event log revealed it was being turned on by:

Intel (R) Identity Protection Service Resume from Suspend

Anyone know why this happens and how to turn it off short of disabling/removing Symantec VIP Access and Intel IPT?

Go into the Thinkpad power manager and disable "wake timers" on your currently selected power plan.

I've disabled the wake timers for both on-AC power and off... let's see if it still wakes up

Re: T420 wakes up automatically from hibernate due to Intel Identity Protection Technology (IPT)

jmstuckman,

Turns out I had to disable wake timers for both Battery and AC settings because by default the "Allow wake timers" was already disabled for Battery as expected.

Anyways, it does not auto-wake from hibernate any more.

Thanks,
