T420s - Bit from inside laptop - Any ideas where from ?

2012-03-07, 20:58 PM

Hi there,

Had the keyboard palmrest off and the keyboard off today on my T420s (keyboard palmrest is incidentally a lot larger on the T420s encompassing the speakers and the top rim around the keyboard as well, anyway a bit came off and Im struggling to figure out where it goes back.

I've included a picture of said bit, small square of sticky rubber - if anyone has any idea where they go or it went can you tell me please.

Link to picture

Any help on where it might have come off would be great.

it should go on top of the Intel chipset from memory.

Its probably just a rubber spacer pad that is used to keep parts from rubbing together.

Indeed you are correct -

I had a picture of the keyboard off, but I've misplaced it now - but yes the intel chipset directly under the trackpoint is where the rubber goes.

I got some help from an IBM engineer this morning but yeap you are correcto !

Thanks to all that helped.
