T420s, NVS4200M, Docking Station, 1 ex Monitor - 1080p video very choppy and Display flickers

Dear community,

I recently installed Windows 8.1 professional 64bit (UEFI) on my T420s.

I tried the official Drivers from Lenovo, and also the latest Drivers from NVIDIA.
I also set Display in BIOS to "Discrete" and "Optimus", but nothing worked.

I use an external Monitor and the integrated Laptop Display and I am not able to play 1080p Youtube Videos in a normal framerate. They are very choppy and the sound also..
The fan is working nearly fulltime in full speed..

Also the integrated Laptop Display sometimes flickers.

The Laptop just feels sooooo slow and that's a shame for such a decent device.. =(

Anyone has a hint for me? Do you need more data?

Kind regards, Tim

Does it also happen if you don't have an external monitor attached?

I mean if you don't have any external monitors attached at all?

Which browser are you using? Are you using the HTML5 player or Flash player?

I unplugged the monitor now - same story.

I am using Chrome with html5 Player.
I just tried IE with html5 Player and this works! 0_0

Thank you for the hint, so it should be a browser problem OR the browsers use different NVIDIA settings, I think?

Hi Triforce,

This should not happen in Chrome, have you checked updating the chrome and the Adobe flash player with latest version?

Best regards,

Chrome and also Flash Player are up to date.
(THough the youtube player is html5)

I also tried several things like disabling hardware acceleration in chrome and other flag stuff.
Nothing helped.

IE is fine, but who likes IE? Smiley Very Happy

IE's not so bad nowadays, unless you like having a ton of addons like I do.

But nevertheless, Chrome should indeed not be doing this. What if you right-click Chrome > Run with graphics processor > Integrated graphics?

Also are you running Chrome stable or one of their nightly releases?

I don't have this option with the constellation now. (Running on discrete graphics.)

Also I'm running Chrome stable. I will switch to Optimus and then see, if I have the option with right click.
