Thanks for the info.
How is the gamut on the W series in comparison to T520?
how much is it on the T420s by the way? (seems very low....)

Noam,
Hey - I'd replied to this on your FB pages as well...
We've opened a formal complaint and Greg should be contacting you and will work with you on a resolution. Other than suggestions for drivers, resolution settings, power management settings that could lead to pixelation or reduced contrast we may be limited to what we can do to help here in the forum. I think you've already been over all those.
Let me know if you need more help after working with Greg - you have me email.
Best regards,
Mark

Just thought it will be nice to show a comparison between the display of the T420S to a normal screen. Just in case anyone who cares about the quality of their future screens is looking for the information.
Im amazed this is not a defected product - its high-end laptop with enhanced graphics and cost a lot of $$$. not sure how Lenovo approved something like that.

I don't think anyone with any first hand knowledge of the T420s would recommend it for a Pro Photographer. I certainly would not. Of the 13 and 14" screens I have personally evaluated, I would rate the MacBook Air at or near the top.

Even as a business laptop, or normal people laptop - no one should have to deal with a display such as this one. have you seen the photo comparison between the T420s to a normal screen? (http://i43.tinypic.com/357irsy.jpg) thats painful to see..
oh and not to talk about the 2 sales people who told me the T420s have a great screen, same or better than the old T60 and should be great for my needs as a photographer. now i know its not even 1% of what the T60 was.

The point is not abou which model is beter for photographer. The point is the T420s/T420 screen is really bad. We need to let lenovo know that we would like to pay more to have a better screen, if lenovo just want to cut the cost. Lenovo should at least give us more option about screen. I owned T42, T60, T400, T410,W500,W510, X220, T420s... T420s is the first thinkpad that don't want to keep only because of the screen. I'm still using my old T410.

I have heard horror stories of the T420s "screen door" screen and that this also is an issue with the T420. I do not have any issues with my particular T420, or the T420 of a friend. Another friend of mine has a T420s, and she managed to get a panel that doesn't have the screen door effect.
I feel that both the T420 (and also my T400) have screens that are way too blue from the factory. Once properly calibrated, they are sufficient for normal everyday usage, but I wouldn't trust them for graphics use. The quality of laptop LCD panels have gone down over time and this isn't limited just to Lenovo. I feel that many people simply adjust to the lack of quality over time and don't notice it or are not willing to pay for the upgrade during the configuration process so manufacturers have difficulty justifying the extra expense of a better panel. Additionally, most manufacturers have more than one supplier for all critical parts and not all suppliers are crated equal.
