[T430] How to change touchpad mouse button function

2015-06-22, 2:00 AM

The touchpad has two sets of buttons that do the same thing, which is super redundant, and a useless magnifying glass function in the middle. What I want is the buttons on the bottom to be the left and right click, while I want the three on top to be navigate backward, middle click, and navigate forward.

Touchpad -> Properties -> Buttons only allows me to change the bottom two buttons.

Using Windows 7, with updated drivers.

Hi MindNarrative,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Uninstall the current driver installed under "Mice and other pointing devices" from "Device Manager”, and make sure you select the check box on “Delete the driver for this device” and then restart the system.

After restarting the system now download the Touchpad driver from the below link and install it.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hi MindNarrative,

Thank you for the reply!

  • There is not individual option for top two buttons it is synchronized with bottom two buttons.
  • Please let me know if the top two buttons working normally?

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Yes, the top two buttons are working normally. What's the point of those buttons even existing if they can only do the exact same thing as the buttons 2 inches beneath them?

Is it at least possible to map the middle button to middle click?

Hi MindNarrative,

If you are using Trackpoint to control the mouse cursor then you will be requiring the above two buttons, and when you are using Touchpad (Trackpad) then you will be using bottom two buttons.

Yes, you can do the changes for center button; keep tapping the center button for five times you will get new window “TrackPoint Scrolling Tips” click YES to get the complete details on that.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Thank you for the help, but this didn't work either. I know you understand but it is the three buttons above the mouse pad----- not the new syyle with no buttons. thank you again.
