I bought a SSD drive for the internal bay and would like to use the factory drive with the ultrabay caddy. There are several products which offers either SATA II or SATA III. Is the standard drive capable using the extra speed up to 6 Gbit/s?
I thought about this one:
My T430 isn't mentioned in the description but I've read the 12.7mm should fit without any gap.

I have a "generic" Ultrabay adapter in my T430s that I bought from Amazon or eBay (can't remember which.) It's 12.7mm high and fits perfectly with no gap. The adapter will work at SATA-III speeds. I disassembled the Ultrabay adapter out of curiosity. It's just straight pass-through wiring of the SATA interface, i.e. there's no active circuitry to affect SATA speeds.
BTW you can also get an inexpensive plastic enclosure with USB interface for the DVD drive that will let you use it when the HDD is in the Ultrabay. Check Amazon/eBay for sellers.

Thank you guys for the prompt replies! So it's going to be the one I've posted.
I like the idea with the usb enclosure in case it has to be quick or a direct transfer between dvd/ultrabay disk is needed. I'll definitely think about it.
