Re: T430 factory reset - ex employee laptop

Hi,

We have a a T430 laptop belonging to a previous employee. We woud like to factory reset the machine using the F11 fucnction, however it asks for the password for the employee.

How can we get round this, do we need a factory reset disk/image? Where would I get one of those.

Thanks in advance

Re: T430 factory reset - ex employee laptop

If it is the supervisor password (set via the BIOS), there is no reset. You need to get the password from the previous owner.

yes richk. additionally, if it is one key rescue and recovery asking for password, there is no reset. You will need the password from the previous user. if it is rescue and recovery asking for the password, then the only time this may be bypassed is when using to install to a empty hard drive; you will be prompted to keep or replace the existing password when installing to a empty drive. Contact the person with the password. there is no workaround for unknown  password.
