T430 loose screen bezel

Hello,

I recently got my new lenovo T430 (my first thinkpad) and overall I'm very happy with it. I just have a few concerns with some parts of the laptop. Maybe it's just because I was expecting too much, but here it is:

1) The bottom of the screen bezel is a little loose, it's not touching the screen in the middle of the screen at the bottom (it's maybe 1mm away from the screen)

2) The edge of the palmrest is not firmly connected to the bottom of the laptop, when applying a pressure it moves closer to the bottom of the laptop (again, by just a milimeter or so)

3) The palmrest flexes a little on top of the optical drive

4) The plastic part where the power, sound, thinkvantage buttons are located also flexes and make cracking noises (this part actually doesn't seem of very good quality)

5) The battery is a little loose too but I heard this is normal

Are all of those normal and what I should expect from my t430?

Thanks!

I have X220 but the same issue. The bezel is a litte bit warped (about 1mm) and it is probably caused by direct sun light. I decided to live with that.

Re: T430 loose screen bezel

That doesn't sound right. I would contact support about getting it fixed

Re: T430 loose screen bezel

So it's not supposed to flex at all, right? It's not annoying or anything but I'm just concerned about the build quality

Re: T430 loose screen bezel

Just for your information, I just tested a T420 and there was definitely less flex, so is the T430's quality worse?

You may try to "fix" this by applying finger pressure on the loose area (pushing down and running across), helping the bezel hooks to snap-lock.

You were being generous with the term "normal." I've come across various T430's at work and they are all different in terms of fit-and-finish. There are small gaps at different spots and the keyboards "feel" differently. Variances in the parts, variances in the assembly skills, whatever...

Re: T430 loose screen bezel

I have a T530 and I am experiencing all of those problems. Loose battery? Check. Loose lid? Check.

Area around mute/volume/Thinkvantage button(s) wobbly and creaking? Check. Don't have an optical

drive but a 2nd hard drive, and the plastic below the caddy is also creaking. Dunno. I've decided to

live with all of those (minor) problems/defects. But that area around mute/volume/Thinkpad button(s)

seems to be made extremely poorly. Flexing and creaking is truly unbelivable. Dunno if it's a design

or assembly flaw but it really is ridiculous how poorly it is made/constructed.
