I'm trying to connect my T430s to my Sharp Aquos TV using a DP to HDMI cable. The video works fine, but there is no audio from my TV.
I've researched this issue extensively, and most people with this issue are having trouble getting the HDMI device recognized in their audio settings, or simply needed to switch their default device in sound settings. My problem is more complicated.
Windows is recognizing the device when I plug the cable in. It's acting like it should be working, except there is no audio. What is strange is that even though it appears to be recognized, my sound icon on the bottom-right of my desktop gets a red X over it, I cannot test the audio for the HDMI device in sound settings, and I cannot set any other device as default (i.e. - I can't play the audio from my laptop when the HDMI is plugged in). The moment I unplug the cable, the sound magically comes back on my laptop, the red X goes away, etc. (side note, for how much this machine costs, I'm kind of pissed that they couldn't just put an HDMI output on it..)
I'm stumped as to why my TV is getting no sound, yet the sound setttings show HDMI audio...but my audio icon in the corner has the red X...and I can't change the speaker output. Here are a couple links to what I'm seeing.
Thank you in advance!
