T430s: System displays "Windows 7 is not genuine" warning


I have just bought a Lenovo T430s with type 2355-CTO. It is still in the warranty, and the last 20 days I get "Windows is not genuine". It ran perfectly in the past 4 months, but suddenly (I guess a Win update) starts to show me this message.


I don't have a Win Product Key on my battery. I called Lenovo and they told me that my laptop is with pre-installed with Windows, and the key is embedded in BIOS. I tried all the fixes I could from Lenovo boot console but none worked.


I don't want to reset the hdd to factory setting (the only option left) as I have a lot of data in my hard disk plus other software installed from the company network.


Is there a fix for this?



BIOS version 2.51 and above should fix this problem. The change log of the BIOS is as below:


Version <2.51> 
UEFI: 2.51 / ECP: 1.12

  • (New) Add support of new 10 digits format part number and serial number.
  • (Fix) Fixed an issue where the display was corrupted on Linux.
  • (Fix) Fixed an issue where Windows 7 activation might fail.
