my t430s cannot read 16GB SDHC card i use in my camera. Card is formatted as FAT32. To further check the ricoh card reader i tried putting a 4GB SDHC card and it was able to read that, so I am assuming it is driver issue that I would like to be fixed since the card reader is advertized as SDXC compatible so it doesn't make sense for it not being able to read a 16 GB SDHC card.
I have tried installing the latest driver for it from lenovo support site and windows said newest drivers are already installed.

upon further testing, I tested it with another 16 GB SDHC card and it was able to read it. the only difference between 2 cards is class spec.
unable to read: Patriot LX Series 16 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card PSF16GSDHC10
able to read: CoreMicro 16GB Class 4 microSDHC Memory Card (With SD Adapter)
I know the patriot card is fine as my camera and 4 years old laptop is able to read/write to it without any problem

Welcome to the Lenovo forums.
I suggest you go and download the driver for the media card reader.
Make sure it is for the right operating system. This should remove any doubt about the driver. If needed you can always uninstall the driver from your computer and download it from this link. Then you know you have a fresh, new copy.
I hope this helps,

Hi Alex, Thanks for the drivers link, however I don't find any drivers for media card on that page. I think they're supposed to be posted under the category "Camera and Card Reader" which currently has drivers for camera and SmartCard reader only, not the media card reader. Can you confirm?

If the driver for the media card reader doesn't work,
I found your computer in the personal system reference and saw you actually have no Smartcard reader. But you do have the 4-1 media card reader. Which is specific to all machine types of the T430s.
With a little more investigating I found out that
You have a Ricoh Multi Card Reader on the computer. This reader is able to read SDHC cards, but to get it to work fully you have to update the driver.
Here is the link to the driver. Which this driver supports XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
Thank you NINE.
Hope this works out for you

Thanks NINE, Alex for the driver link, however it didn't help. I am still unable to read the card.
To confirm card is detected on machine, I opened the Device manager before plugging the card in, under "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" only "Intel 7 series chipset......" shows up, after i insert the card "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller" shows up hence the card is detected.
Also to make sure its not missing Drive letter, the card didn't show up in Computer Management --> Disk Management either

Could you show us a screen shot of the device manager when you have the card in the media reader?
This would give us a little more understanding.
Also, when the card is showing up in device manager, look in my computer for the card, is it showing up?
Hope this helps,

Hi Alex, I am attaching 2 images. Computer state is freshly restarted.
Also I had My computer opened throughout the test and the SD card doesn't show up there.
before I inserted SD Card
after I inserted SD Card
if required, I have recorded the screen throughout the process, the video is available for download here: video download

Is the card seen in My Computer on the start menu?
Hope this helps,
