T430s flight mode button broke - Stuck in flight mode

2018-08-07, 9:55 AM

Hi,

I have a problem with my T430s, the flight mode button on the side is broken and flight mode is turned on.

What to do? I can't turn flight mode off in settings (as it is "greyed out") and the slider button is completely broken.
(I have fixed this button before)

I want to avoid fixing the button, is it possible to just disable the flight mode in registry or something like that?

Welcome to the forum!

There's no trick known to me bypass the wifi switch. I think you will need to remove the keyboard and palmrest and manually move the motherboard switch to the "on" position, (the button on the palmrest actually moves this switch)

I just hope the motherboard switch is not broken :smileysad:...

Check the steps to remove the palmrest in the hardware maintenance manual from Lenovo: click here! Chapter 9 - 1100

Good luck!

Regards

Edit: I just opened one of my T430s yesterday and I saw/remembered the switch is not on the motherboard itself but to a small board which is connected to the motherboard via a ZIF cable... I hope you could fix the issue... ;-)

The problem was the connector to the motherboard (side board) which was loose. When connection between the connector and the ZIF-cable was lost, the computer automatically went in flight mode.

I used a thin layer with superglue to fix the problem (hopefully).

Thanks for the response!
