T430s loose hinge

I've had a T430s fpr about 9 months and the lid hinge became a bit loose some months after I bought it. When the lid is open it moves slightly back and forth freely. Is this a common problem? Is there an easy way to fix it without sending it for repair and waiting ages to get it back?

Re: T430s loose hinge

Hi Ebologna,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing issues with hinges of your Lenovo ThinkPad T430s.

Refer the hardware maintenance manual to see how the hinges has to be reseated/replaced.

If there is no user induced physical damage, the warranty will cover the issue.

I would recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.

Best Regards,

Mithun.

Re: T430s loose hinge

How do you tighten it yourself? I sent mine to get tightened under warranty a few months ago and it's back to being loose again. Hinges are quite disappointing for a 2000 euro computer...and all the military testing...etc

Re: T430s loose hinge

I haven't because i don't want to lose my warranty.

But it seems like it's pretty easy tough:

Re: T430s loose hinge

There is no adjustment to the hinges, and it is a difficult (time consuming) repair

Re: T430s loose hinge

Hello,

I've got the same problem with my t430s. I contacted technical support and although it still has warranty, they told me it's  not covered.
