T440 electric sparks sounds

Hello,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with my T440.

Randomly it starts to make some electric sparks noises. They are coming from (approximatly) the bottom right of the laptop (under the arrow keys). They are clearly audible even in a normal office environment.

I though it could have been the SSD, but the sounds disappear as soon as I switch off the audio board pressing Fn + F1.

Any ideas?

Don't know if it is meaningful but I'm running Debian/Linux.

Re: T440 electric sparks sounds

Does it make the same sound if you plug in headphones?

Re: T440 electric sparks sounds

I just tried, as soon as I plug the headphones the noise stops.

I don't know if it is relevant but it is happening also when the laptop is plugged into the docking station.

Re: T440 electric sparks sounds

It's probably the mediocre Realtek audio chipset they're using this generation.
