T440p Touchpad Issues

2014-01-31, 21:25 PM

Hello, ive just received a new T440p. Out of the box, the touchpad doesn't seem to be working correctly.  I can left, middle and right click, scroll and use gestures but I can't get the mouse pointer to move! Trackpoint works fine.

Ive looked at the trackpad settings and can't find anything usefull...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that you are not able to use the touchpad in your brand new Lenovo ThinkPad T440p.

Ensure that you have the latest ultranav drivers installed and touchpad is enabled. Go to control panel -> Mouse and under ultranav tab, enable touchpad. If you have any difficulties in finding the drivers, please share the MTM number of your device.

Hope to hear back from you soon!

Best regards,

Mithun.

I just purchased the T440p to replace my X220i, and quite disappointed with the new touchpad design, it is extremely hard to use especially the right click, almost impossible to use with the trackpoint, I would rather install back the old touchpad if parts available, but at least I want to disable the touchpad so that I can use the buttons with the trackpoint only, and the cursor will not jumping around when I click.

Fixed the touchpad by downloading and installing drivers from the lenovo site.

A new laptop shouldnt have these kind of problems when coming out of the factory...

Hi Lotech,

While I think Lenovo still has an amazing build quality and the machines are tank-like in durability, people make comparisons within the same series. Many people have favorite features or design elements on a particular model, and because they value that, the design directions for new models may be seen as better or worse.

If you want to disable touchpad, you can go to control panel -> Mouse, disable it under Ultranav tab.

Best regards,

Mithun.

I had a similar problem, checked from BIOS that Trackpad is enabled, Control Panel -> Mouse did not have any setting to enable or disable the TrackPad. Downloaded and installed Synaptics driver from Lenovo... nothing seemed to help. Then I just simply went to Add or Remove Programs and uninstalled the Synaptics Ultranav driver. Trackpad started working before I even rebooted the computer.
