I just picked up a t440p, and I am hoping to do some upgrades on it. I got a Transcend 512 GB SSD for the M.2 slot.
It installs just fine, and Windows 10 sees the drive. The only issue is that when the M.2 SSD is installed, there is no wireless adapter in the system. When I remove the M.2 SSD, the wireless adapters are back.
Is it not possible to have both in the system and functional? I am hoping to make the M.2 SSD the OS drive, and use the other SSD drives (2.5") for storage.

Normally, the 2242 SSD does not affect the wireless networking. Obviously, there cannot be a WWAN adapter, but the wireless networking should be fine. I assume airplane mode is not on, and the black and gray wires are still connected

Airplane mode is off. But its weird... its like the wireless adapter just disappears. Not even in the devices anymore, while that m.2 SSD is in the slot. And I know that both devices work - at least individually. Right now, I am using the wi-fi connection to connect to a hotel wi-fi to respond, but the m.2 SSD is removed from the laptop. As soon as I shut it all down and add the M.2 SSD, its like there is no wi-fi adapter in the laptop.
The wireless is a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. Pretty standard I assume. M.2 SSD is brand new, Transcend 512 GB. Laptop is a fresh install of Win10.

I have never seen or heard of that issue. All I can suggest is to make sure the BIOS is the latest one. My GUESS is that it is a power problem on the motherboard and that the SSD draws more power than the WWAN. That might make sense, assuming that both slots are on the same leg of the circuit. The drive MIGHT be defective, causing it to draw more power than it should, but that seems unlikely to me.

So I got my hands on a second t440p. This one has an older BIOS than the other one.
t440p #1 BIOS version : 2.54
t440p #2 BIOS version : 2.51
The laptop with BIOS 2.54 does not recognize the wifi when the m.2 SSD is installed
The laptop with BIOS 2.51 sees both devices when both are installed at the same time.
So it is starting to appear that somewhere between BIOS 2.52 and 2.54, that something was introduced to cause this issue.
How do these possible bugs get reported?

Thanks for posting this. I have three T440p's on BIOS 2.52 with SSDs in the WWAN slot, and would not want to be without WIFI.
I don't have any experience with BIOS rollback, but the following link may help. I have been thinking about rolling back to 2.46 to remove the security enhancements that have slowed me down.
Give this a read...
edit: I'm on 2.51
