T440s Display off when undocking

Hi All,

I have a T440s in an Ultradock with the monitor closed and three external monitors connected (1 HDMI, 1 DVI, 1 VGA).

Everytime that i undock the laptop and open the display, the display stays black.  This doesn't seem to happen if i put the laptop to Sleep, undock the laptop, and then turn the machine back on.  The only solution after undocked is to do a hard shut-off (losing any open data) and then turn the laptop back on.

I've used the Lenovo Updates and Drivers application as well as the support website to validate that the Intel HD Graphics drivers are on the latest version.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Fightnaggie08,

Thank you for the reply!

Uninstall all the power management & power manger application from your system and check it once. If you find if the issue has been resolved then download latest version from the link and install it.

Below is the link to enter the downloads page and download latest application accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.

Re: T440s Display off when undocking

Hemanth,

I have uninstalled the Power Management Driver (i didn't have any other power management apps installed) and restarted the machine.  After logging back into Windows and undocking the laptop, i get the same lack of response from the laptop display.  If i re-dock the machine, then i can continue to use my monitors.

Re: T440s Display off when undocking

Hi Fightnaggie08,

Please uninstall Intel management engine and Intel graphic driver from the system, and download the latest driver only from Lenovo support link and check updating it.

While performing this step please undock the system from docking station.

Note: While uninstalling or installing the application if the system prompts you to restart, please restart the system and proceed with next setp.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Re: T440s Display off when undocking

After un-installing these 2 components and installing the latest display driver direct from Intel's website my issue is resolved.

Should i re-install Intel Management Engine 9.5.3.1520 Interface Driver & the Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67.04.05 through Lenovo System Updates & Drivers?

Thanks!

Re: T440s Display off when undocking

While attempting to install the Intel ME Firmware i am following the instructions in the readme and the upgrade fails (initially because the -file command of the MEUpdate.cmd is not referencing C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ME.  once i corrected the .cmd file, i receive the attached error.  Obviously something wrong in powershell which i do not know how to fix.

My ME firmware is on 9.5.15.1730 (older than this version) so i am trying to upgrade.

thanks

Re: T440s Display off when undocking

There appears to be a problem with firmware update code using both absolute and relative addressing.  If you do not run the update from the working directory, this will cause an error ..

To correct the Management Firmware update error, run the update from the working directory..  Within the command prompt (w/ admin rights), change to the working directory with the following syntax: 'cd c:\drivers\win\me'

From the working directory, run: 'meupdate.cmd'

The firmware will now update without errors.
