T440s Screen Blink

I have a brand new T440s that is only a couple weeks old at this point. Since the day I took it out of the box, I've noticed an intermittent screen blink issue. At first I thought it was related to the adaptive brightness, so I disabled that. It didn't fix the issue.

What I'm seeing is a blink every 30 - 60 minutes. It happens at random intervals, but does happen consistently. It's very short, almost like the screen turning off and then right back on. It doesn't seem to be related to any one activity as it has happened while running a multitude of different applications and programs. I have the FHD touch display.

Anyone else with this issue or with any suggestions on how to fix it?

Re: T440s Screen Blink

Does it seem to occur when you have certain devices (i.e. cellphone) near your computer?

There's a magnetic lid sensor that determines if the screen is closed or not, and it may be triggering inadvertently.

Re: T440s Screen Blink

I have a T440S w/ FHD/IPS touch and there is no blinking.  Since the T440S has power bridge dual battery technology, is your problem happening when the batteries are switching over.  Are there any errors or warnings in your event log when this problem happems.  BTW, latest BIOS and Intel Management Engine Components/Firmware were posted about a week ago.  Also, the new touch mouse driver (posted end of Feb) makes the touchpad experience more fluid and similar to the multi-touch screen..

Re: T440s Screen Blink

It does not seem to be related to a cell phone or any other device.

The battery switching could be a possibility, although it seems to be more frequent than that. However, I could be overestimating to frequency. I haven't noticed any errors in the log.

I will try updating the BIOS and see what happens.

Re: T440s Screen Blink

After updating, I still seem to have the same issue. I checked the event viewer when it happened and saw notihng. It occurred with battery #2 at 58% and battery #1 at 99%. It doesn't seem to be related to battery switching.

Re: T440s Screen Blink

After updating and running the on board Lenovo system update application and downloading all new updates from there, I still have the screen blink problem after running it for a few days and trying various settings changes.

In addition to that, the trackpad is off center and has various issues of its own (which sounds like it could just be a design/driver issue and a common problem) and the fingerprint reader just flat out quits working after a sleep cycle. That's a pretty big deal to me since that's how i prefer to sign in to my machine.

Are there any other ideas for fixes out there or should I just go ahead and look into a warranty claim?
