I bought a T440s last week. The keyboard stops working almost every half an hour!!! Some keys still respond when some fault occurs, but not doing what it is supposed to do. After restarting, it seems to be working but normally won't last for longer than 1 hour.
I have called customer support and upgraded to latest keyboard driver as advised, but nothing improves.
Please advise, thanks.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that a few keys of your Lenovo ThinkPad T440s is not working properly.
Check if the keys are working in different applications. Some keys such as the function keys F1 through F12 will not work with every program. An easy way to test this is to open notepad or other word processing program and trying the key. Try getting into safe mode and see if the keys work. Remove the key from the keyboard and clean it. In some situations dirt, hair, dust, etc. can obstruct keys causing them not to work.
Please try to get into BIOS mode and see if the keyboard is working there.
1. If you are able to use the keyboard in BIOS, it could be a software issue. I would recommend in that case to do a System Restore which will revert the settings in your system to a previous time.
2. If keyboard doesn’t respond in BIOS as well, it probably indicates a faulty keyboard. I strongly suggest you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Thanks for your prompt response.
Keys are not working in all applications when it faults, I have tested it in Notepad, Word, IE, etc.
It is a brand new laptop and it happens the first time I turned it on. Therefore it is extremely unlikely to be dirt-related issue, unless the issue exists when it is in the factory.
Keys works in BIOS, but it does not prove keyboard is OK. The reason is keyboard works in Windows after restart, the keyboard only stops working once Windows has been running for 20-30 minutes, or even shorter.
I have attempted to restore and made no difference.
Any other suggestion?

I have the exact same issue. I have updated the BIOS. It is NOT a keyboard hardware error as the keys work perfectly for sometime around 20-30 min. then the Windows key top working. Also the deep sleep causes problems. The thing is that I have had 3 Lenovos in the T-series all of them where faulty when delivered. After complete reformat, install and drive update I have had the previous ones working afterwards. So it seems that either default images are not tested properly or the amount of Lenovo bloathwere causes problems.
Any advice on how to fix the issues?
1) Deep sleep - cannot wake up again
2) 20-30 minutes - keyboard stop partly working issue - ctrl-alt-del and windows key is not working at this point. the rest of the keyboard works fine.

I have a similar issue, the keyboard works partially, only the Fn keys works, the numbers and letters not. Looks, like the keyboard is blocked, but I didn't find any keys combinatios to unlock. I had 3 months with the Laptop and this is the first time I have problems with my laptop. Anyone has an idea of what to do?

I am experiencing the same problem. I just got a brand new lenovo T440p and the third row keys on the keyboard are not woking. Tried safe mode and driver updates and no luck.
It is frustrating buying something brand new and now you have to waste time tying to fix it.
Please advise solution or should i send it back.
