Hello!
I have following issue with my new T440s' speakers:
a) having generic audio driver, there is silent noise everytime some sound is played approx. for 5 seconds
b) having most recent Realtek there is permanent the same noise unless it is muted using Fn+F1. Only "software mute" doesn't work.
I have Windows 8.1 x64.
I tried some googled tips with disabling the microphone but none of them has worked.
This is very annoying, since there is SSD and ULV this is the only noise this laptop produce.
Thank you!
Drozi

I have exactly same problem.
However, I don't think that this is driver problem since this buzzing is heard even when laptop is in bios. From what I can tell, sound(buzzing) is comming directly from speakers.(both of them)
And you are right, it is extremly annoying and it is killing this otherwise very quiet laptop.

I have the same problem, too.
But the noise isn't always there... it may stop for a while, then return, contiue for a while, and stop again, and then return again, ... It is pretty annoying...

Have called and written to Lenovo customer-care, but got nothing. Via phone recomended to send an email. Via email no respond.

It is somewhat strange. I can hear the noise even with headset plugged in.

Mine is i5 4200 and HDD. I searched a little bit online and saw people complain that T61 had already had this problem!
