Re: T450 won't turn on

The battery died. I plugged it in and the F1, F4 and Fn led's came on but the machine will not power up. The led on the power button won't even light up when pressed. I let it charge for the day and tried again, same led's were lit.  I disconnected external power and battery and the 3 led's remain lit.  I am wondering if I should leave the battery out and the cord unplugged and wait for the led's to go out, then try the boot process again.

Re: T450 won't turn on

The T450 has both an internal and external battery, so if you did not disable the internal battery, that would explain the LEDs not going out.     To disable the internal battery you normally would do so via the BIOS, but since you cannot get into the BIOS, that is not an option.

Have you tried just pressing the power button for 10-15 seconds to see if will reboot normally?

If that does not work, turn the laptop over, and using a paperclip or pen point, and press the Emergency Reset Button.

If the system still does not return from sleep mode, your system might stop responding and you might not be able to turn off the computer. In this case, you need to reset the computer. If you have not saved your data, it might be lost. To reset the computer, press and hold the power button for four seconds or more. If the system is still not reset, remove the ac power adapter and reset the system by inserting a straightened paper clip into the emergency-reset hole. To locate the emergency-reset hole, refer to “Bottom view”
