Hi Good Day,
Has anyone tried to clean install Windows 7 on a T460 Laptop? I managed to install Windows 7 with the help of Windows 7 usb 3.0 creator utility (because it only has 3.0 ports) but unable to use the ports after installation and cannot install the drivers. Hope someone cal help to solve this issue. Thanks

Thanks for the link but i can't use the usb ports because drivers are not installed. Can't usb the usb dvd as well. I was hoping for the usb ports to work after installation. I had to use usb 3.0 creation tool to install Windows 7.

I don't understand. You just download and install. You don't need USB to do it.

Thanks for the response. The laptop is a clean install....so the I need to install the drivers of USB 3.0, WLAN card, ethernet etc... I have the drivers with me ( downloaded from another computer) but since the usb ports are not functional, I am looking for a solution. I can remove the hardisk of the Laptop and transfer the data to it but I was hoping for a different way.

Looks like I am only having this issue installing Windows 7 32 bit. I installed 64 bit on our T460 with the help of Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility and did not experienced trouble with the ports. USB ports are functional after installation of 64 bit. I will try to solve the problem with my installation of 32 bit and keep it posted here. Hope some one has any ideas that might help.

I saw one thread that solved my dillemma. A post by someotherguy with a link of procedure of installing the drivers to the .wim file of Windows 7 installer. I injected the USB 3.0 driver from Lenovo to my Windows 32 bit installer, made a new bootable pen drive and the USB ports are functional after my installation. Here's the link to the thread.
