T460P Bios upgrade (to 2.19 / r07uj16wd.iso) fails: Unexpected error

My T460P is currently on 2.13. I want to (well, i don't but hibernate doesn't work at all) upgrade to BIOS version 2.19 which is current at the time of this writing.

I got r07uj16wd.iso but this upgrade fails with "unexpected error" without any hint as to what failed whatsoever.

You seem to have done some backward-incomaptible changes in 2.15 so maybe do it step by step:

Upgrade to 2.15: OK

Upgrade to 2.17: OK

Upgrade to 2.18: OK

Upgrade to 2.19: Fails, again this "unexpected error" without any details on WHAT the error is.

Did anyone managed to use the r07uj16wd.iso ISO-image to upgrade to 2.19?

PS: And yes, the md5sum of the downloaded ISO is correct.

Re: T460P Bios upgrade (to 2.19 / r07uj16wd.iso) fails: Unexpected error

Hello Andy,

I had exactly the same problems updating BIOS versions 2.18 and 2.19 via  USB thumb drive (package i.e. r07uj16ww.exe and preparing a thumb drive with the provided mkusbkey.bat  script ).

Now it looks like the new BIOS version 2.20 (r07uj17ww.exe)  does not include any mkusbkey.bat file anymore. In fact all I can find in \drivers\flash\r07uj17ww  is one file named  r0duj18w.exe.  Was the bios update procedure changed with this release?

Re: T460P Bios upgrade (to 2.19 / r07uj16wd.iso) fails: Unexpected error

2.20 seems to have fixed the upgrade issue:

$ dmidecode | awk -F: '/^BIOS Information/{getline;getline;print $NF;exit}';
R07ET78W (2.18 )
$ curl -sO https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/r07uj17wd.iso
$ geteltorito ./r07uj17wd.iso | dd status=none conv=sync of=/dev/sdb
Booting catalog starts at sector: 20
Manufacturer of CD: NERO BURNING ROM VER 12
Image architecture: x86
Boot media type is: harddisk
El Torito image starts at sector 27 and has 43008 sector(s) of 512 Bytes
Image has been written to stdout ....
$ reboot

# flash
$ dmidecode | awk -F: '/^BIOS Information/{getline;getline ;print $NF ;exit}';
R07ET80W (2.20 )

PS: Not sure why you have that odd padding with space in the version but OK.

PPS: I'm positively surprised that this was fixed in a reasonably timely manner, thanks for that!

cheers,
