I have not seen this problem personally, but I have heard about it from another customer. It started after updating the Intel Management Engine firmware. To fix it, that customer updated to the latest BIOS version and also installed the latest Intel Management Engine Interface software. All of these components are available on the support website, or just run System Update on your PC and select them from there.

Thank you Someotherguy. I have updated the bios then downloaded and run the latest Intel Management Interface software from the Lenovo support site as suggested. After rebooting, the PTT EK Recertfication process shows 0% CPU usage and all appears fine.
I suggest others follow this advice as well.

With latest Lenovo Vantage updates, now I have this issue. As a work around, I have to end the process. But, if I leave the computer for maybe 20 min, then the computer ends all open programs and shutsdown. To get it back up, the finger scanner won't work, so I have to enter the password. This experience is especially distracting when onsite with clients. Is this really considered a "solved issue"????

i guess the shutsdown may be caused by some power setting,.
For the fingerprint scanner issue, I suggest you wipe your finger data from both windows and BIOS , and register your fingerprint again. I haved the same fingerprint scanner issue before.

Thank you for trying to help Mr. WTong: unfortunatly resetting the finger print in Windows then bios, and next restarting, finally did not result in any changes. The Intel PTT EK Recertification continues to command a 12 CPU constantly, resulting in a cyclical drag of the system to crawl/pause. A few minutes after startup, the fan speed ramps up and the problem resurfaces.
