T460p + Ultra Dock = unable to use internal speakers

I have a T460p (Window 10) in an ultradock and am unable to switch between 2nd output speakers (plugged into ultradock headphone port) and internal laptop speakers. The Realtek driver recognizes both "playback devices", but when the computer is docked there is absolutely no way to play any sound through the internal speakers, even if the external speakers are turned off. The only way to get the internal speakers to play is to physically unplug the external speakers from the ultradock, or undock the computer.

Is there any way around this? I don't always want to use my external speakers, especially when on a skype call etc. Tried reinstalling the Realtek driver to no avail. Should I just uninstall it altogether and use the default Windows audio drivers?

I used to have a T440p (Windows 8.1) and I was able to switch between internal and external speakers easily when docked (via volume mixer > playback devices).
