I verified the checksum and burned a DVD using the r07uj18wd.iso file. After power cycling the T460p, the upgrade program starts to boot from the DVD then the following message appears on the screen but the bios upgrade program never runs. I tried burning a 2nd DVD thinking it may be a media issue but had the same problem.

I'm running Fedora 27 on a T460p. No Windows. No CD/DVD drive.
Download BIOS Update (Bootable CD) for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad T460p https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/r07uj18wd.iso > $ md5sum r07uj18wd.iso | grep 52a0a99d823a9e127c30458365f74f1b > $ geteltorito -o bios.img r07uj18wd.iso Booting catalog starts at sector: 20 Manufacturer of CD: NERO BURNING ROM VER 12 Image architecture: x86 Boot media type is: harddisk El Torito image starts at sector 27 and has 43008 sector(s) of 512 Bytes Image has been written to file "bios.img". > $ sudo dd if=bios.img of=/dev/sdb bs=512k 42+0 records in 42+0 records out 22020096 bytes (22 MB, 21 MiB) copied, 2.49447 s, 8.8 MB/s
I rebooted and configured boot options for USB HDD.
The system started booting and stopped with only the following text displayed.
"Lenovo Group Limited"
I've tried many of the boot options on this page, but since it is booting I don't think boot options are a problem.
I've also tried a couple different USB thumb drives.

This isn't the first time Lenovo's borked a BIOS upate for the T460p. I will not be attempting another install until they get this sorted ... same symptoms as last time ... restarts to a black screen, never appears to do anything.I had to remove the battery to get it to boot up, and then it displayed secure flash authentication error and powered off again. I powered it back on and it appears to be OK, but the last time this happened it would not reboot successfully when docked.
I haven't tried that yet ...

Thanks for the input. I also wait out untill it is clear that the update works properly and that the process has no issues.
Any updates would be welcome.
