T460p trackpad completely gone from Windows hardware

2016-05-10, 8:49 AM

My T460p is 3 days old. Today, the trackpad just died. It's gone from Windows hardware manager. It's enabled in bios, I tried reinstalling the drivers.. Nothing. Mouse cursors is gone, hardware is not detected. I'm at a complete loss.

I have the same issues with two T460p's that Lenovo sent me:

I'm sorry that you have this issue but at least it confirms that I'm not the only one. Seems to me that the trackkpad firmware is broken. What worked for me to re-enable the touchpad was to disconnect the computer from AC, remote the battery, wait 10 seconds and then restart it. This only works temporarily though.
