T460s Intelligent Cooling?

2016-05-10, 1:45 AM

There is a setting within Lenovo settings called Intelligent Cooling. The switch is always grayed out, but I can manually set either "High Performance" or "Cool Mode". Any idea how to turn this on?

Intelligent cooling  is enabled when ThinkPad active protection is installed. Although SSDs don't need auto shut off the software seems to enable accelerometer input for intelligent cooling. I'm pretty sure as I just uninstalled it to find that my option grayed out. After that I reinstalled active protection and the power gauge and power drive. To be honest I find it quite useless as it keeps switching away from quiet mode at my desk even though I want it to stay on quiet mode. Unlike you I'm struggling to hit decent battery  despite a HD screen. My NVidia graphics must be sucking juice...

Thanks. I forgot to post back when I determined that I needed the APS software to be installed for the Intelligent Cooling to work.
