T470 NVMe SSD enclosure

Hey everyone,

I was upgrading the NVMe SSD and was wondering what is the funtiuon of the rubbbery part (which sits on top of the SSD drive) shown in the photo.

This part got a bit dirty but didn't know how to clean it. Will it cause problems moving forward?

Re: T470 NVMe SSD enclosure

That's a dielectric material that's used to prevent the NVMe stick from shorting out on the metal and to help seat it firmly in that cage. As long as it didn't get metal or conductive fragments on it, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Dear customers,

This rubber is for Thermal conductivity to cool SSD device.

If customer will remove it, storage performance will imapct.

Re: T470 NVMe SSD enclosure

Thanks for the replies guys. The rubber is not really fixed to the enclosure. It comes off pretty easily but can be stuck back on pretty easily as well. I left in there as shown in the photo when I put the SSD back in so it should be all good.

Cheers
