T470 Thunderbolt 1903 Problems

I've started building a 1903 image in SCCM but I am receiving errors in the Thunderbolt control panel that not all Thunderbolt ports are working correctly and to run the latest firmware update from the manufacturer.

 

Has anyone else seen this? I know that the T470s were tested with 1903 per a Lenovo support article.

I'm aware of random Thunderbolt problems.  See here:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT508988

 

If you get an error trying to install the latest firmware, try shutdown, unplug AC, and press the emergency reset button (on the bottom) with a paperclip.  Then try installing the firmware again.

I have to say that we've had re-occuring issues with Thunderbolt ever since we starting buying the Thunderbolt 3 docking stations upon their release.  We took a decision to move away from traditional docks and start using external thunderbolt docks and its been problematic ever since.  I've never had to deal with so many docking issues in all the years and now its the most common issue with modern laptops. 

 

Our most common issue is that users will suddenly get a message stating that the Thunderbolt has stopped working and they have to re-run the firmware update and reboot before Thunderbolt is working again and their docking station detected.  Some users have to do this on an almost weekly basis. 

 

I hope the latest dirvers/firmware addresses this instability.   Thanks for the links
