T470 (and T440) - (Windows 7?) Bug in the function key drivers

So I am sure this bug has caught quite a few people here, as I see it pop up on both my T440 and my brand new T470.

The function key driver will crash when the system comes out of sleep mode. This does not ALWAYS happen, but frequently.

Here is a dump from my event viewer. I have seen this documented here numerous times.

Faulting application name: TPONSCR.EXE, version: 8.8.0.0, time stamp: 0x59683639
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.23915, time stamp: 0x59b94ee4
Exception code: 0xc000041d
Fault offset: 0x0000000000026483
Faulting process id: 0xec8
Faulting application start time: 0x01d35fb890c35d20
Faulting application path: C:\PROGRA~1\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPONSCR.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 76274490-cbba-11e7-bc6c-54e1ad1dfbdc

Lenovo, please fix this as I am sure this is affecting thousands of your customers!

Re: T470 (and T440) - (Windows 7?) Bug in the function key drivers

Here you go lenovo, someone else reporting the same thing in October 2017:

Looks like I will revert back to an older version until it is fixed as the above thread recommends.

Here is "Lenovo On Screen Display" version 8.86.25

It should fix the crash issue that happens after resume from sleep/hibernate.  Can you please try it and let me know?

Re: T470 (and T440) - (Windows 7?) Bug in the function key drivers

Thanks, I was having the same problem as the OP. The driver appears to fix the crashing issue but when I resume from slepe/hibernate, the brightness keys stop working. I click F5 and F6 and nothing happens. I can still control brightness via windows + x but not through the F5/F6 keys. Any advice?

I'm not seeing that problem here, but I would like to investigate it.  Which model ThinkPad do you have?

I have the T450, T460 and X240. I was able to resolve the issue with a Windows Hotfix.
