Hi,

I have a T470 with 8Gb ram. In order to upgrade to 16Gb (8Gb×2), I intented to buy this 8Gb ram :http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/products/dram/pc-dram/ddr4-sodimm/M471A1G43DB0?ia=2429

Will it be fully compatible?

Thanks a lot for your help Smiley Happy

Re: T470 and ram compatibility

Hi nibalo

Greetings.

In most ram upgrades, it would be best to match your current installed RAM.

General specs is 32GB max / 2400MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable, two DDR4 SO-DIMM sockets

Ideally, RC: DDR4-2400 (1200MHz @ CL=17, tRCD=17, tRP=17)

M471A1G43DB0 do have the same specifications except the speed , PB: DDR4-2133 (1066MHz @ CL=15, tRCD=15, tRP=15) as it is known to work but with downclock to the slower one or could be unstable as reported here on this and this discussion.

As per parts lookup tool this M471A1K43CB1-CRC would be better choice aside from other listed.

Hope this helps you answer your query.

Regards

Re: T470 and ram compatibility

Hi and thanks for your quick answer!

Could you please tell me how to check the informations about the already installed ram?

Is it possible to cjeck it from the BIOS itself?

Re: T470 and ram compatibility

Hi nibalo

First, you can use the serial number and check the part number and manufacturer number from the parts lookup page here (or you can send me the serial number privately if needed).

You can use the manufacturer info of the RAM (example M471A1K43CB1-CRC) which is also on the sticker of the ram to get other specific details that software tools like CPU z may miss out.

BIOS would only have small details to reference.

Regards
