T480 Fan Error

2019-06-04, 14:57 PM

In my T480 I am noticing the bottom of the laptop gets supper buring hot, and the laptop is very quite that is cooling Fan is not running.

Upon trying restart the laptop, it shows 'Fan Error' in black screen and the laptop does not start.

Have to hit the Power button again to start the laptop.

I am affraid if not vigilent (when fan is not working) and the laptop will get very hot and damage the hardware.

Started in April, (got this laptop in end of Jan 2019) and it is happending twice a week.

Anyone else experincing this Fan Error issue on T480?

I just check for System Updated following are being updated now:

Take the laptop into your local ASP or call support for depot service, your thermal fan and fan cable connection should be diagnosed.

I will did 2 critical and 3 recomended System update.

I will continue to monitor if the Fan Error happens again, but if it happens again for sure will call Lenovo on-site that my Company has with all Lenovo laptops.

Thanks for that suggestion.

Despite all system updates, I am still getting the Fan Error. 2 times or more every week.

So fianlly called 'Premier Support Phone' and will get it serviced tomorrow.

Final update, the fan was replaced and since than no more fan error.

A side note, the back cover was hard to remove and got cracked on the fan vent area (by the technician), so had to be replaced on a second visit.
